Re: A whine and complain thread
I don't think it's ever a good idea to make negative generalizations about people groups, even as jokes. I also think that a member of that group is totally justified in complaining when it happens, and should be listened to. That is my perspective. Even if you disagree with that, though, there are ...

Re: A whine and complain thread
I was employing a sarcastic tone because I'm angry at you three. Regarding advice, though, you've solicited advice on here on how to interact with women. You said something that came across really negatively to me and I don't think it's a stretch to say other women could be annoyed by that comment t...

Re: A whine and complain thread
Here's my last piece of dating advice, Enty: women love a good sense of humor, so try telling your "women cancel plans" joke on an actual date. If the woman seems offended, uncomfortable, or simply doesn't laugh, assure her that three men on the internet agreed that the joke is perfectly a...

Re: A whine and complain thread
It is very ugly to make negative generalizations about women or any group of people, and I have done nothing wrong in calling attention to it. I've made my position clear and you can choose whether you agree or disagree and act accordingly.
And ChrisM is definitely right that you should tell her.

Re: A whine and complain thread
But what if she cancels, as women do? There isn't enough eye rolling in the world to effectively summarize my attitude toward this statement. She's cancelled on him before, can you blame him? Would you blame him if he had said, "But what is she cancels, as Chinese people do?" Whether in j...

Re: A whine and complain thread
By the way, I did see my friend. I don't know if this needs to be said, Enty, but you called him my "attractive friend" and while he's very attractive to me I don't think he's conventionally attractive. He's short and a bit stocky and has a very round face. When I tell him how attractive I...

Re: A whine and complain thread
I like solitude. I go on long walks by myself at night, because there's hardly anyone else about then, and have started seeing a movie in theatres by myself at least once a month. I also enjoy socializing with other people, which I have my friends, family, and coworkers for. I feel like I start to g...

Re: A whine and complain thread
Huh, I had an unexpected surprise date today. Just as I told my coworker my plan for the evening was to go home, cook and do nothing I got a message. Chinese Girl finished work on time for once, do I want to go for a drink? Karaoke is blindingly expensive. Possibly the G&Ts weren't free, but it...

Re: A whine and complain thread
I figured it was a miscommunication of some kind. Those are awfully common in dating scenarios, particularly when you're communicating via technology and across cultural/language barriers.
Hope you two have fun, though!

Re: A whine and complain thread
If you want to meet up with her, positively-framed response might be good ("I'd really like to meet you in person" or something similar), rather than questions geared to figuring out why she rejected you initially or whether she rejected you initially.

Re: A whine and complain thread
Some people chat for a long time on dating sites before meeting up. As with meeting someone in real life, it comes down to both parties' preferences and behavior. Some like to get to a know a person well before asking him or her out, and others like to cut to the chase. I read a blog post about Chin...

Re: BLURT thread
Well, he's been friends with my best friend since childhood, their sisters are best friends, their parents are friends, and everyone in each family knows everyone else in the other. I've met some of his sisters and am friends with one of his brothers. He lives an hour and a half drive away, though, ...

Re: BLURT thread
The poetry. Still so good. I had mentioned before that I had a friend I was super into and had fooled around with, but he ended up getting back together with an ex. I was mainly focused on getting over him, but I started thinking about him the other day and I realized how much I still have feelings ...

Re: BLURT thread
Woohoo! New relationships are fun. One of my best friends, who just went through the hardest year of her life, just got herself an awesome boyfriend. A close mutual friend had wanted to set them up for ages, and when she got drunk at a party he convinced her to call the guy. Her fella is in a milita...

Re: Second One Sentence at a Time Spamusement Story
Thankfully the electricity emanating from my bones and pulsing through my muscles was sufficient to numb the parts of my gastrointestinal tract necessary for retching so that, while I was continuously dry heaving, I did not, in fact, retch.

Re: Second One Sentence at a Time Spamusement Story
I would have preferred not to have gone into the retch portal, but its gravitational pull had other ideas.
