Re: Movie log thread
I did re-watch Guardians Of The Galaxy recently, once it came out on dvd - the first time was in the theater, but I spent the first few minutes a little distracted wondering when the friend I came to see it with was going to show up... So the second time I got to catch details like the fact that the...

Re: Post a picture of your pet!
Santa doesn't give Jack toys anymore because his toy box is full. So he just gets special treats instead. He seems fine with this arrangement - I wish we'd taken a pic of him on Christmas night, laying down with his head on the fireplace because he knew his new chicken treats were still sitting on t...

Re: Beers
I got some beer as presents this year - My family traditionally get me the "winter variety pack" of Sam Adams, plus one of my sister's presents for me was a 4 pack of La Fin Du Monde, which I've never had before - I plan on saving that later, because she claims it'll put you to sleep (in t...

Re: Video Game Stuff
Doing a second playthrough of Batman: Arkham Asylum, because some time ago I had to replace my PS3 and subsequently lost all my saves on my older games. I encountered a fairly hilarious bug in the Croc's Lair section of the game: See, you're supposed to be slowly sneaking around the sewer on shaky f...

Re: SHOW YOURSELF!
Halloween. My costume was originally intended as "Hipster Jason Vorhees"... But this was all stuff I would wear normally, plus the mask, a fake knife, and a fake adhesive mustache that sort of looked like my real mustache anyway... So it was more like Quetzalcoatlus Jason Vorhees, which is...

First vaguely spamusement-ish thing I've done in a long time. Context: KatyM posting a particularly auto-correct-mangled text from her mom that included the phrase "dobby ny anticipation".

Re: Song Parodies
Oh, not to dominate this thread, but I forgot about the time I recorded a parody version of a song by a local band I enjoy, just because I had promised/threatened to do so when they announced they were putting up instrumental tracks for their songs: the original version was "Every Time I Visit ...

Re: Song Parodies
Oh, I just remembered the one full parody I have written. See, my cover band was going to play a Christmas show (that was later cancelled), but the one seasonally appropriate song we were going to cover ("Father Christmas" by The Kinks) proved too hard to learn quickly, so we started jokin...

Re: Song Parodies
I haven't actually written anything for it, but I have this idea in the back of my mind for a parody of Adele's "Skyfall" called "Skymall". This is because someone was talking about seeing a globe that opened up to reveal a bar that they saw in the catalog you get in airplanes, a...

I missed half of the Grammys this year, but I can still say with confidence that this was the best thing to come out of them. highlights of Noel Gallagher's commentary track from a DVD of Oasis videos . I like maybe three Oasis songs, but this is hilarious, sweary, and apparently also Karl Pilkingto...

It's amazing how many of these work as unintentional responses to each other. this is a particularly silly example.

But don't take a dump on Batman. Good rule. The last two movies I watched were One Missed Call... and One Missed Call. See, I watched the original Japanese movie, then the American remake. It's kind of weird that if there's a movie I love, I will avoid a purportedly bad remake like the plague...

Hay guys, I was in a music video! (warning: some slight fake bloodiness in the beginning, if you're squeamish about that sorta thing). If you're specifically looking for me, I turn up after the first two minutes, during the "concert" scenes.

Yes, that be amusing. Citation Needed . This has been around for a while, but it's new to me - the tagline is "The Best of Wikipedia's Worst Writing", which pretty much explains it. My favorite discovery while looking through their archives is the fact that wikipedia has a an index of Simo...

Re: Movie log thread
Yeah, I actually read the story itself recently - basically the difference is that the movie has an actual over-arching plot, while the story was pretty episodic in nature, but a lot of elements carry over. Also, I feel like the story had just the very slightest bit of extremely dry dark humor to it...

Re: Movie log thread
Bully. The recent documentary, not the not-very-recent not-documentary. I need to stop watching movies when I'm in a distractable mood, especially documentaries. Pretty depressing, but the ending is at least kind of uplifting in that it at least shows that there are some parents and students who rea...

Got a job finally, doing stock at a thrift shop. My coworkers are generally pretty nice, and this is only the second retail job I've had where employees have some say over the music - the piped in music comes through an ipod deck/radio, and provided the registers aren't super busy and that whatever ...

I may have been mishearing things, but I swear at work I heard two customers say the following to each other: Girl: How's your ball? Guy: Oh, the Japanese people aren't coming over until later... It's slightly possible that the girl was asking how his mom was, but that was definitely his response ei...
