I'm fine with being in un-posed photos (which some people hate for some reason). I just don't like having to react to being photographed at all. It often ends up looking stupid or otherwise bad.

Oh yeah, those. I hadn't even looked at them because I was kind of nervous of how stupid I'd look.

I'll be in Sweden from 2 – 9 July, but I'll be back in London after that if you want to experience in-person awkwardness.

Re: BLURT thread

The cab firms should all be very experienced at dealing with airports. They generally take your flight number so they'll know when you actually land, and I'm sure they have a fair idea for how long checking out usually takes.

Re: BLURT thread

If you're arriving late I would definitely recommend arranging a taxi beforehand. If you're not landing at London City Airport (which I imagine you're not - I think it's mainly for domestic flights) there's a good chance all the public transport will have stopped by then (and even in central London,...

Re: BLURT thread

Reminds me of a similar notion I heard: when going on date with a new person, men fear they could be laughed at, while women fear they could be killed. I couldn't tell you how accurate that is, but it seems depressingly plausible.

I've finished the original, but not the doge version. I want to see the final stage of doge. Sure, I could just check the source, but I want to earn it.

Re: 2048

this is exactly like the game threes with the twist that you can automatically add numbers together as long as they match. with threes, you have to first add 1+2 in some cases, but the rules are still the same that you can only add numbers if they match Another small difference is that in Threes th...

Re: Band Names

Somewhere I have sheets and sheets of phrases I thought would make good titles for prospective Wrong Treatment tracks, but producing noise takes a lot more effort than producing names for it. One of my favourites, and oldest (it actually predates TWT by a few years) is "You, Me, the Investors a...

Re: Video Game Stuff

I find it so funny that Go Go Nippon, an innocent visual novel designed to teach about Japan, is behind an age gate on Steam. Why? Whiny anti-visual novel twats, which apparently make up a large proportion of Steam users >_> (check any visual novel on Steam Greenlight for examples). I don't know; a...

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD

Hey, everybody! Just thought I'd let you know that an abstract of mine has been accepted to an academic conference in London this July. Basically, that means I get to read a paper about the two authors I wrote my thesis on in front of a bunch of experts (and some other punters, like myself). It's g...

Don't Starve Nidhogg Brothers Hotline Miami If you're the sort of person who would ever find themselves in want of a competitive local multilayer PC game (with keyboard or controllers), I highly recommend Nidhogg. Also, I believe Sports Friends is finally getting close to coming out, which is pretty...

It's interesting to me that we went from disheveled to an adjective-free Frodo Baggins and back to disheveled.

Anyway, good stuff.

Antichamber, Rogue Legacy and Surgeon Simulator 2013 are all good, currently on Steam sale, and very cheap. Definitely worth £10 or your local currency equivalent. Antichamber: if you like puzzles and reality-bending shenanigans. Rogue Legacy: if you like 2D action platforming and randomly-generated...

I was responding to your comment, "I don't know why they'd want it in that particular format"; I took that to mean file format. Their asking for people to use a specific method to produce the file is a bit strange, but it could again be an attempt to avoid formatting problems by prescribin...

Generally the reason to ask for something as a PDF is to ensure consistent presentation; you don't have to worry about fonts or different versions rendering things differently or whatever.

Interestingly, phone numbers are one of the few places you'll still hear people say "treble" instead of "triple".
