Re: The [New] Music Thread

Do not pay for The Mars Volta's new album. It just doesn't work as an album. The concepts are new, but not well put together and the songs usually languish for minutes at a time before actually getting to anything interesting. Too late. I kinda agree though. However, "The Malkin Jewel" is...

Re: Movie log thread

I watched Friday the 13th Part II in honor of the date. For whatever reason, it took until the final 20 minutes or so for me to actually start feeling suspense, which wasn't really true of the original. Maybe because the original actually had a twist to it? Maybe because there were too many cat scar...

Re: Flash Game Thread . . .

Booty Battle. This game was made to promote bounce music artist Big Freedia, but the important part is that it is a rhythm game where you use your arrow keys to help a bethonged woman of the race of your choice win an ass-shaking contest.

Re: Official Book Thread

I have finished Cold Mountain. It was pretty good, although, well... have you ever suddenly realized a character is inevitably going to die and felt like you were just waiting for it to happen for the final quarter of the book? Yeah. I'm currently reading Neuromancer by William Gibson, kinda my firs...

Re: Movie log thread

I saw most of Rio, because for whatever reason I end up giving CGI films that aren't Shrek sequels at least a fair shake. It was okay, with some fairly funny bits, bu what's really important is that Jemaine Clement voiced an evil cockatoo and delivered a sort of FOTC-ish villain song . I also watche...

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD

I might get to soundtrack a video game, guys! My friend is aware that I make weird electronic music as a hobby, and happens to know someone who is working on a game (an independently developed one, I guess) and wants ambient music for it. It's kind of funny, because I'd recently been thinking of doi...

Re: The Dream Thread

Last couple I can remember: I am at a party in some kind of big mansion type place. They hand me a rule book, then add that if you want to disobey any rules, you can go into one of their inter-dimensional portals. I'm so excited by the idea of inter-dimensional portals that I immediately find one (i...

It's funny you mention EvilJekyll mentioning Redlettermedia's Half in the Bag review of Silent House and John Carter because I watched Dumb And Dumber yesterday.

Horse eComics. The concept is kind of similar to spamusement itself, except all of the comics are inspired by spam tweets from one particular twitter account.

Re: video clip

I've seen this somewhere before, it's pretty funny.

How about switching gears with a bad metal video? (unlike ZP and jvcc's posts, the badness is mostly contained in the visuals, not the music. Although the vocals are pretty... dramatic.)

Re: Movie log thread

Watched the better part of Rango on HB0 (I think) this afternoon - I enjoyed it. One of the all-around best-looking computer animated movies I've seen in a while, and I like that, while there is plenty of humor, the whole "western where all the characters are desert-dwelling animals" thing...

Re: Ye Quest for Sexy Songs

Lovage - Book Of The Month (actually their whole album is nothing but sexual innuendo, this is just one of my favorite tracks) Side note: Tom Jones and The Cardigans did a version of "Burning Down The House" too, and they also ended up making it sound sexual. I guess it's all in how you e...

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD

The guy on the left is Spawn . I don't remember being into the non-child-appropriate comics/movie/etc as a kid, so I must have just had the toy because I thought it looked cool. Also, the one in the middle is megazord from Power Rangers, but I guess it's pretty easy to mistake for Voltron because bo...

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD

I have mostly accomplished making my RPM album. I have ten finished songs, but one of them I am attempting to rap over right now. I have rapped a couple times before for this one guy's trip hop type project - I find it kind of hard but it appeals to my sense of word play and obscure references. Oh, ...

Re: The [New] Music Thread

I enjoyed those Iggy Pop videos. I like when music videos clearly have absolutely no budget but still manage to get something entertaining out of whatever they can scrounge up - The Meat Puppets' "Get On Down" would be a fun example. So, the new Sleigh Bells album leaked. It sounds like Sl...

Cuteness of the day: a little girl saying bye to people on an escalator . Oh hey, I have been to the mall where this took place a few times. Sadly I didn't have anyone waving goodbye to me on the escalator though. It sort of seemed like she got a bit dissuaded from her duties as self-appointed gree...

Re: Video Game Stuff

Enjoying Fallout 3, but I need to work on the combat aspect of it a lot. Also, "Butcher Pete" is a hell of an earworm. I've already noticed the gameplay mechanics of both this and Oblivion are a bit similar, so maybe as I get better at one I'll get better at the other. I did not find this...

Currently reading Cold Mountain. They were cleaning out the lost and found where I intern and I needed something to read. I have not seen the movie, nor am I particularly a "historical fiction" person, but I like it so far. A really good job is done of making the setting of any given scene...

Re: Video Game Stuff

Bought Splatterhouse, the 2010 game, for PS3. It got bad reviews apparently, but it was cheap, I sort of wanted something more actiony in my collection and this video review swayed me. I kinda suck at it so far, but it's pretty fun. I forgot to add how I like that the text on the back cover is trans...
