By the way, if I DO post some guest strips on the main page, promise me you won't all devolve into bickering and name-calling about which ones got picked and which ones didn't, etc. I love you all equally. Really.

I have come out of lurking just to throw my 2c in on the whole 'guest strips on the main page idea'

Firstly i think its a good idea, it was my first thought when i started to see no posts for a while.

Secondly i also believe that Stevenf, its time to set your baby free, you have to give spamusement over to the people now to carry the torch.

And by that i mean that you should plan this with a long term view to have spamusement running without you ever needing to lift a finger. (of course we'd still be more than happy for you to do so!)

My proposition would be to set up an automated voting system whereby at the end of each week the guest strip with the most user votes is automatically posted to the main page. Checkout the forums and posts at www.b3ta.com for an example.

This way you can go holidaying off in the carribean whenever you like and for however long you like without worrying about leaving desperate fans gagging to see which guest strip made this weeks front page.

It also resolves the bickering and name calling issue, and might help to bring more people into the forums etc (only registered users can vote perhaps?) Long term forum posters can be forum moderators etc.
Could also have a semi-regular competition with a random spam subject line that anyone/everyone can do a strip for, best strip wins.

I may have misunderstood what you just said, but isn't that what Guest Strips are?

Tasteslikefun, I like those ideas. It seems like it would be a bitch to set up, though.

One thing that came up in my head was the whole idea of hosting. Stevenf will have to host the strips that will go on the front page a) to avoid dead links and b) to obtain full control over what goes up there (someone could change the picture it links to or something evil).

I'd just like to say I love your style of drawing and humor, so if you did a more "regular" comic that has the same absurdist spin and excellent character as Spamusement I'd be perfectly happy.
