Laverne News Line

I'm guessing it has something to do with Laverne and Shirley. Not sure. Entirely unsure on this one.

Yes, children, it's a Laverne and Shirley reference. And a funny one at that.

Care to explain for those of us who do not watch Nick At Night?

A quick look at Wikipedia suggested it was but I've no idea what it has to do with it. Apparently Laverne was played by a woman and stuff so I have no idea.

I don't even have cable,.. I just happen to have an infinite knowledge of all sit-coms. It's a curse, really.

You youngins! Back in my day, Nick at Night only showed black and white shows. No, we watched endless syndicated reruns of Laverne and Shirley on channel 4 instead. And cartoons were only on Saturday mornings or from 3-5 on weekdays and heaven help you if there was a baseball game!

What he said.

I never watch Laverne & Shirley on Nick At Nite, but I got that reference.

Hey what ever happened to Nick at Nite actually showing "classic" sit-coms.

Instead of showing things that were on during my childhood, like they're doing now.

Why.

I used to watch Dobie Gillas on Nick at Nite. And Patty Duke. Good stuff. Now they show Roseanne and Fresh Prince. Don't get me wrong, I love Fresh Prince, but on Nick at Nite? Sheesh.

Which does raise the question why Nick at Nite doesn't play old Nick shows. I mean, would you rather watch yet another Full House marathon, or would you rather go to bed watching:

- Out of Control
- You Can't Do That On Television
- Salute Your Shorts
- Hey Dude
- Danger Mouse
- Count Duckula
- Wienerville
- Are You Afraid of the Dark?
- Pete and Pete
- Roundhouse

I know who watches Nick at night.

Personally I'd never even heard of it, and I don't get the comic, but I'll probably check out those links later.

Most of this thread went right over my head. I used to watch Mork and Mindy very occasionally. I looked up Nick at Night, too, because I wanted to know what everyone was on about.

Aprony is quite possibly the wittiest person I've ever met online. She deserves a medal.
