Wait- holy poopcakes, we have ADMINS now?
As somebody configuring a corporate phpbb right now, I can say I feel for you. 2's Admin CP sucks.
HEY I was wondering what happened to you the other day. Or was that a dream? I don't remember. I don't know why I'd even...care...
Um...um...YAY FOR STEVENF COMICS

which was still better than 3. I believe XKCD lists the reasons.
WRONG. Although I may be referring to the other cut on the DVD (it's not a director's cut because Fincher kind of washed his hands of the whole thing).
Alien is the best of the set; Aliens is the worst. I'm not absolutely certain about the latter, but the former is definitely right.
Oh, I'm not even including Alien vs Predator. That doesn't even count.

What? I mean, what the f**k? What's the matter with you, man?
Alien > Aliens, I can understand, but Alien 3 AND Alien 4 > Aliens?
I just found it a bit cheesy and silly. That said, 4 is pretty daft too. Three could have been good, but things went a bit wrong. But after watching 2 most recently I kind of just felt "what's the point?". I guess the finale was cool, though. And Bishop. He was pretty much the only character apart from Ripley I actually liked. Not that I'm a huge fan of Ripley, but comparatively speaking.

The trick to evaluating the Alien movies is to have each one stand on its own, rather than episodes in a series.
Alien: rickin'-frackin' brilliant. Perfect in every way. Giger is responsible for 80% of this evaluation.
Aliens: James Cameron's comic book style applied to a sci-fi battle epic with snappy dialogue is totally kickass.
Alien³: Giger is completely wasted in this film, with a combination of cheesy stop-motion effects and a complete lack of atmosphere or action or really anything that doesn't have to do with Ripley getting all anarcho-corporate angsty is a perfect example of why lead actors should never executive produce sequels to their iconic movies to make themselves feel needed.
Alien: Ressurection: Repeat the last entry minus Giger, replace action with "painfully overwritten action", and double the part about why I'm glad Sigourney Weaver stopped here. At least this one has some redeeming cheap thrills like Winona Ryder and the guy who played Carla's husband on Cheers, the guy using a chestburster as a weapon and the aliens' Gremlins-style retribution against the scientists.
The monkey alien was still the stupidest Alien design ever, though.

I think for me it's more about Scott and the actors. To be honest I like the (lengthy) prelude as much, if not more than the actual Alien bits. Giger is awesome, though.
