Seeing as they're completely different models, I don't think he'd be compatible with her unless he do update it...

That robot looks very Metropolis-esque. Very classy!

I was going to say that, but forgot.

We just had to watch that for my Science Fiction Issues class. It sucked. One person mentioned that you have to consider it for its time, but another person (rightly, I think) said "What, people in the 20s couldn't enjoy a good movie?"

The movie's innovative, for sure, and we came up with a LONG list of media that later borrowed from it, everything from Star Wars to Futurama to Superman, but the story and movie itself is crap. It doesn't help that there's more than an hour of footage missing, but I've got the feeling that even if it was found and re-edited, it'd just make it longer and more boring (and only slightly less confusing).

anti-metropolis rant

you dang kids with your disdain for culture *shakes fist* get offa my lawn!

seriously though, whether or not the *narrative* was worth watching, the film metropolis -- as you so correctly identified -- was responsible for inspiring countless films and other visual media and was incredibly innovative at the time it was made. no metropolis == no citizen kane. but you probably thought that movie sucked too :x :x
