Bah, I keep trying to get my friend to play blank white cards with me, in person, but they keep weaseling out of it on account of "Waaaaah I can't draw!"

Sweet, I found pretty much everything I was looking for code wise here.

Now to edit the code and get it up and running for you guys. This should happen sometime over the next week, since there are 171 images. Unless of course EsBe (since I feel bad for wanting to improve on his hard work for the original quiz) or someone else would want to work on it.

Hold off until I hear back from my trained cyborg dolphin, who's currently tweaking it for me. You might not have to do anything at all.

I can still make a name the artist one. 8)

Where can I rent one of these trained cyborg dolphins, by the way?

Anyone good with CSS? I've been busier than usual this summer, and that's the only thing that's holding me back from this. I basically just need to reformat the quiz area to fit the images from the original quiz in there.

The files are in an attached .rar.

I'll take a look. Since I don't actually know a thing about the original quiz or where exactly this has to be done, could you give me some info and what PHP files to look into?

EDIT: oh, okay, I see what needs to be done.
EDIT 2: Correction! Do you actually need that big right-side area that explains what the quiz is all about? In fact, what is the format that you want this to be in at all? Got a mockup or something?

More questions! Do you want to keep a similar visual format to the original quiz, or can I play around with it a little? The window size on the original code is pretty much fixed because the creator is intent on always perfectly centering the thing onto the screen, but doing the same with spamusement comics means I either need to make the comics smaller, or drop the whole "vertical centering" thing. If I don't, the quiz itself will probably drop off half the screen for anyone with a vertical resolution lower than 1000px (the minimum resolution to fit the comic, quiz text AND answers).

I asked all these questions, but just went on a whim and made this. See attachment.

Note that I completely dropped the vertical centering part, and I moved the intro text to the top instead of the side. If everything displays correctly, the white background is supposed to cover the full vertical part of the quiz.

EDIT: corrected intro page.
EDIT 2: made the results page a lot better.

There's no real set format for the quiz. It took me so long to find a workable editable code for a quiz with the features I wanted that I was happy with that.

The one you provided looks good, if you want to improve it and make it more awesome go for it!

Alright then, good to hear. I reverted the index page to the centered view (because it looks better with its limited content), and I centered that final score block (though I had to edit test.php to do so, since I needed to add a div). Files are attached.

I'll leave any other color and design choices to you (though I think the colors actually match the forums perfectly).

Not mentioned in this article: it should be played as a drinking game.

BTW, it strikes me that there is a logical flaw in The Game.

People playing The Game announce that they've lost it when they think of it, so therefore those people who do not announce that they've lost The Game are not playing it, which would contradict Rule 1.

The key to the Game is to drink enough until that makes sense.

Um, FYI, I do have a working copy of this quiz that a friend of mine tweaked for me. I just need to javascript it up a bit and it'll be done.

And it's currently here. Just drop it into a PHP server and go to index.php.

Click a comic, subject line list appears at right. Click a line, it gets assigned to the comic. Pretty basic. I originally intended this to be a group quiz---i.e. you present it to a bunch of outsiders and see how well they can hack it as a Spamuser---which is why the quiz is so long.

At a later date I should figure out a way to make selected lines show up on the list, but for now it works fine.

Yeah I don't think I would ever be able to try one of more than like 10-15 at a time, let alone 60 or 70.

Well, I got 20 percent! I think that's mainly because I'm stupid and unobservant, but there might be because it's a bit overwhelming with all the pictures and all the captions at the same time. I'd see a caption and think, "Oh, I bet this went with that picture a couple of hundred back--do I want to scroll all the way down and start from there again?"

My suggestion would be that each picture should have, maybe, six or so captions to choose from. Failing that, perhaps every time a caption was chosen, it would be eliminated from the list? I should point out I am very impressed with the work put into this.

I wonder what kind of score I could get with sheer randomness.

That was one of my friend's additions. In place of the dropdown menu I berated the user for blocking scripts. :P

The Java does make it easier...though the sheer number of entries makes it a bit difficult to get around.

For example, I'd be captioning one drawing, and I'd see another caption that would go with a drawing previously seen. "Oh, I know that one!" SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL. dang it. Maybe it was the other direction? SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL SCROLL. Okay, there's the drawing. What was the caption again?

Don't know if it's possible, but a "Remove Captioned Drawings from View" would make navigation much easier.

Yeah, I know, I ask for EVERYTHING and am NEVER HAPPY.
