Re: Web Site Changes And Maybe Ads For Us On Other Sites
I think the sharing links works well, as well as the wiki and discussion, but I feel that the first/last/previous/next comic navbar could be more aesthetically pleasing and intuitive.

Panel 2 idea? Can of course lose the smaller text when it gets reduced in size.

Null, Esbe, those are great! I'm out of town right now so I can't mock up the whole thing right now.
I've tested the FBI like and google +1 buttons and it looks like they're working. Any stumblers or tweeters out there wanna test out the other two buttons for me?
Btw, if your favorite social button is missing let me know and if it's not too hard I can add it.

I am in favor of titling each phase "1. Spam, WTF?" "2. Facepalm/Genius Inflection Point" "3. SPAMUSE!!" "4. Descent into madness"

I AGREE. Well maybe "2. The Moment of Facepalm"?

OK here's what it looks like so far ... FYI, I slightly narrowed the panels so each panel is now (539 x 480).

I'm liking it!

Another ad idea:

Based on an this old cartoon by Matthew. Of course, all cartoons are the copyright of the original artist so I can't actually use his artwork without his permission. Since he hasn't been around for a long time maybe someone can take the idea and draw a new cartoon explicitly for an ad?

Here's a take on my first ad idea. I did two versions as I wasn't really pleased with the "spamusers.com" location in either. Whaddaya think?

Re: Web Site Changes And Maybe Ads For Us On Other Sites
I actually think the four-part ad would be better suited as a vertical stripe: one panel atop the other, delineated by captions.
And may I suggest the following font for that banner:

Possibly with a streak of white "ink" underneath one or both lines of smaller text for readability, like thus:

I'll mess around with the ads a bit more tonight when I get home from work. PS, what font is that?
Meanwhile, I uploaded the four-panel image to the wiki and put it on the About Us page. I know Null's is just a draft but I figure this'll work as a place-holder for now.

The fonts are Action Man which I got off one of those decidedly unpleasant free font websites (you know the kind) and boring old Arial Rounded MT Bold.

Well, I wanted the font because I still wanted to play around with it a bit. I found one sorta close, anyway. So I'm thinking I might just run with these:

The font is included in the attached zip, above, btw.

Re: Web Site Changes And Maybe Ads For Us On Other Sites
Oh well poop I didn't realize that. I went ahead and decided to try this out and signed up and put a banner ad on MS Paint Fan Adventures which sounds like they're a site kinda similar to ours. I'm not sure I entirely understand the "control panel" for the ad, but I appear to have won the right to show the ad everywhere except Canada where I've been outbid. And strangely it seems to think I'm in Canada? Because I don't see the ad. Oh well, let's see what happens.

The winning bid for USA and Canada makes my head hurt.

Yeah, that is one seriously awful ad. It makes me want to avoid clicking on it, even to find out what a "cocmic" might be.

I'll try to get that finished up soon. Battling insomnia and illness at the same time.

I need to draw something else too. The little pictures in the thought bubbles: for a brief moment, possibly in the shower, I had the perfect set of pictures that would easily be identified as a misinterpretation of a common spam line, but like [off-color popular culture reference] I forgot about it before I could write it down.

I managed to bump out Canada but I still don't know why I didn't get the US bid on that. Oh well, I'll see what happens on the next one.
So how's this for a small square ad:

I think the text makes it awkward, seeing as you used probably the only comic I've ever drawn that needs no caption.

Fair enough. I'll put up a version without the text tomorrow and see what y'all think.
And Null, that's awesome. I'll also update that image tomorrow as well.
Meanwhile, a button-size ad. These things are kinda a bitch to get right they're so small ...

Just for fun I tried the square one more time with text
and now without:
And I've updated the four-panel comic on the About Us page. Check it out.

Re: Web Site Changes And Maybe Ads For Us On Other Sites
So, personal thoughts on the main page:
1. The list of recent comics should show the art, full sized or thumbnail doesn't really matter, so the page has some visual appeal to draw in the random strangers.
2. The navigation buttons on the comic.php page should be above the comic itself, so their locations don't change when you go to different comics, due to the pictures being different heights. (Nothing breaks up your uncontrolable addiction to reading more and more and more comics than having to move the mouse, amirite?)
3. Could use a "random" button in between "forward" and "back" to boot.
