I don't think they get it. Unless they have to talk really slowly and loudly so that the giant tree (who probably has a slower metabolism) will hear them. And even then, I still don't really get it. So I'm going to assume it's a pop culture reference, and get help the standard damsel-in-distress way.

Help! Premature Ejaculation! Tell me what the joke is!

I think it's an Ent

Oh, cool, so I had no chance of getting it, since I haven't read LotR. Well, maybe I'll read that article tomorrow, when I'm alert enough to find the punchline.

They get gradually better, with RotK being full-blown epic. So watch at least that one.

As much as I love those movies, I can't watch them more than once.

SO. MUCH. WALKING.

The first one has a lot of walking. I have trouble watching that one over again. The 2nd and 3rd are fairly action packed, with the exception of the "ending" of the 3rd one. TOO LONG

My first instinct was to draw a Trow, but thought people would identify an ent easier.

Truth be told, I bought LotR, started reading the first book, and ~50 pages into it concluded that this Tolkien fellow kinda sucked. He's a better historian than a fiction author.

Don't get exasperated. This one was a little tricky.

I almost didn't get it either, but I think that was partly because I thought the tree had a large maggot on its wrist.

With a compas on top. A maggot wearing a compas. Yup.

Actually, I think that's Treebeard with a miniature Merry and Pippin sitting on his hand. (Come on, Hobbits aren't that small. ;)

Being a total LotR geek, I naturally got this comic right away. It is hilarious.

I'd say that it was them too, but I just wanted to explain the slow speech thing.

Great. The only LoTR movie I was forced to go to was the first/worst one.

So anyway, I would recommend the article on Entish to anyone who doesn't get the joke. The Ent article doesn't really mention it (except very briefly, in the sentence about Entish halfway down the page.)

I almost had a coughing fit when I saw this. Apparently laughter isn't always the best medicine.

Nice work.

I agree, but for probably completely different reasons. I couldn't even make it past the first book because he used the word "queer" so many times that I felt like inventing a time machine, going back to whenever, and throw a thesaurus at him.
