Hey, start a non-amusing news article thread so I can not read that. Explicit-video-of-fatally-wounded-Iranian-woman can go there.

EDIT: That sounds way harsh. SORRY

Yeah OK.

I unfortunately already have the image of that woman dying seared into my brain from having caught it on the news last night. I know this is a serious situation and all but I really wish I hadn't seen that. The only thing more traumatic that I've seen from the news is that old clip from the Vietnamese war where that security officer shot that guy. And somehow the black-and-white of that old clip (and the fact that it happened forty+ years ago) seems to add a certain separation from what happened. That news clip from Iran is eery creepy full color. :: shudder ::

The situation in Iran is rickin'-frackin' scary. Also for some reason i keep think "fork they sorta had more freedom under the shah than under this 'Islamic' Party".

Controversial zoo in Argentina

That's not really very nice at all. Seems to take away the dignity of the animals.

I'd love to be able to pet all those animals, but I never would. It really just doesn't seem right...it gives me a bad feeling.
When I get to hug a tiger, it will be on it's own terms and I will love every minute of it, until it eats my head.

This isn't as intense as Neda, but I wasn't sure where else to post it: Michael Jackson was pronounced dead (according to CTV). So far I haven't heard confirmation from other news stations. In any case, he suffered a cardiac arrest.

EDIT: Looks like the CTV link is down. Here's some other link

His will is going to be interesting.
I was discussing it with some co-workers today and the problem of not updating one's will was mentioned shortly before the possibility of the Beatle's publishing rights going to Brooke Shields or a Culkin.

Mm. McMahon, Fawcett, and Jackson. (Not to mention a high school football coach, a Governor General of Canada, and a rock musician. How much you consider these people celebrities may vary, but they're on some Wikipedian editors' radar.)

There's a photo of me holding a tiger cub on my lap while I bottle-fed her. She was very sweet, though her fur was much rougher than I expected. And she loved the bottle lots more than me, though I didn't realize it until spectators said, "Yeah, I'm sure Siegfried and Roy thought the same...*shudder*" (They were afraid I was about to be mauled.)

(It was around that time, though I'd forgotten. Besides, the cub loved me like all cats do.)

Michael Jackson story related. I believe this is really how his concerts in London were advertised.

You should focus on all the truckloads of celebrities who are still alive. Especially if a pitchman for cleansers counts as a celebrity. With the bar that low, we've got enough celebrity reserves to last for centuries.

Whew! I was worried there for a moment. That's really good news as far as I'm concerned. That means when we finally run out of oil reserves around the year 2080 that we can just get a pitchfork and throw celebrities into the powerplants to keep civilization going.
