My first stand-up performance got me qualified for the quarter-finals of the stand-up playoffs at the Funny Stop in Cuyahoga Falls.

well, you definitely ended strong, even if nobody got the joke.

or maybe they pretended not to get the joke because they were afraid to laugh at it...

Yeah, it wasn't the brightest crowd... I still feel pretty good about it, being my first attempt. I was half-expecting to get up to the mic and immediately puke, ala It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia.

The MC definitely got my closer, though. It was the only time he was still laughing when he got back up to the mic.

Your talking style vaguely reminds me of the Hedberg. I think the baptism joke is my favourite of that set. When you posted it on here earlier it cracked me up too!

His talking style vaguely reminds me of my brother, so I'm having a hard time watching it. I shall make another valiant attempt after work.

You were pretty funny. Also, I got momentarily sidetracked by almost all the related videos being about other people whose names are Eric Von ______.

Youtube is not making fast for me this night. On the first one minute: I notice your accent is not the same as mine. For some reason.

I laughed on several occasions during this... I can't believe nobody laughed at the last joke!
I love this post so much I'm going to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant!

Well, I pretty much bombed my second set. So, I went back up for the new contest this week. I was definitely one of the best that night, but the club owner thought it was too raunchy, so I didn't qualify for the next round. He said beforehand that he wanted a clean set, but wouldn't define "clean" as anymore than not saying poopcakes or fork.

[edit] Updated the video link.

I'm impressed that you went back after the bombing of a round. I think that would do me in, though maybe the good first round might have given me the courage for one more go. Either way, good job!

Yeah, it was pretty brutal. Public humiliation is never fun. Sometimes you just get a tough crowd, though, so you can't take it too personally.

That was pretty excellent. I was laughing, with my face and everything.

Is Dusk talking about a different video? I notice you changed the video. Did you have the video of the bombed round before? Because I sure did not notice lights being turned off. I mean, I wasn't watching the whole thing with my eyes because I had important spamusement to read, but actually well I guess I don't really need to continue this sentence any further.

Luckily, no one was recording when I bombed.

It's supposed to be a five minute set, so they dim the lights at four minutes to let you know you only have a minute left.
