car fifteen has been utterly useless for going on 3 hours now.

UPDATE: car 15 grew a second wheel just now and went from lasting 3 seconds and blowing apart to driving for a bit.

Final update an hour later: The winner is car 0 with a top score of 765 in 1:21 after 39 generations.

So it's been running since a while before my previous post (about 5 or 6 hours?), it's on generation 46 and my best is 897.7. They can't quite crest the hump. It's nice to see them going off sweet jumps, though.

The main disappointing thing is how similar all the successful cars are getting. Expected, but a bit of a shame. They were random assortments of shapes, then they became cool little buggies, and now they're big wheels connected with narrow rods.

Car ten still does not move at all. I don't even know what it is. They do all have wheels now, I think.

Yeah, it seems like the optimal design is two big wheels that pretty much engulf the thin body connecting them. I'm not sure what the best distance between the wheels is; perhaps it's something like the radius of one of the wheels.

It's probably be more interesting if they had to use limbs for mobility, but that would be much harder to model.

Has anyone experimented with other tracks at all? They might add some variety. I tried Gaps for a bit last night, which, if anything, placed even more emphasis on big wheels.

It appears to me that the best design is three big wheels (although in three different sizes) around a collection of some shapes that come together to form a shape that can only be described as something. It's like having one of the robots from Robot Wars that had a SRiMec.

For the Word Bubbles, my new score is 4350.

The max you can get for any prefix is 1800 points. Here's one way to get it fro "pro-":
4 letter words: prod, prow, prop
5 letter words: prods, prows, prone
6 letter words: prones, proner, proper
7 letter words: profess, promise, produce
8 letter words: properly, produces, promises
9 letter words: professor, promising, proactive
10 letter words: profession, professors, professing
11 letter words: proactively, probability, problematic
12 letter words: professional, professorial, productivity
13+ letter words: progressional, progressionally, professionally

Don't know if this belongs here, but it's a game and I found it entertaining:

That is a fun game, but I think they're really stretching the definition of "classic." :P

The caps were totally appropriate though. It sucked me in too, IT NEVER ENDED, I only did up to level 6 so far but it took a good hour or two. I was very slow. And playing minecraft in between.

Most of these I have no idea what they are from. I just use "ETAOIN SHRDLU" which are the most commonly used letters in English, starting with the most common.

EDIT: I think I'd have chosen a different iconic item for Hitchhiker's Guide. Maybe a towel?

Yeah, some of their choices for the images are ambiguous. Some are apt, like bowling ball for big lebowski. Some are not, like the almost invisible hair from gattaca, I mean I get it, but really, something I can barely see?

The only choices that quite irked me was The Matrix and The Professional. Okay, The Matrix was represented by a pair of cool shades. That's nice, but the shades that everyone identifies with it is Laurence Fishbourne's frameless/armless specs, not Whoa's very normal pair of sunglasses. Then you have The Professional, home to one of the most iconic pair of glasses in all of moviedom... represented by the guy's plant? Okay.

The image for There Will Be Blood never actually appears in the film, although the reference is pretty iconic.

EDIT: Finished. 88 correct, 34 wrong. It fell apart quite dramatically towards the end, in part because I was losing patience, and in part because of genuine ignorance and stupidity.

You get one chance: http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/555181

The game can only be played through once. You are a scientist who has created a cancer-curing drug that turns out to be massively lethal. How will you spend your last six days on Earth? Will you find a cure? Live it up?

I played through and my wife played through, and we both did similar paths. We both did the responsible thing and went to work every day to find a cure (except on the last day, she opted to take the daughter to the park and I went to work). If you want to try the other paths, I will tell you how those end here (highlight to read):
If you go into work at every opportunity, you find a cure but the only people left to save are yourself and your daughter. If you skip work on the last day you and your daughter go to the park and die on the park bench.

Booty Battle. This game was made to promote bounce music artist Big Freedia, but the important part is that it is a rhythm game where you use your arrow keys to help a bethonged woman of the race of your choice win an ass-shaking contest.

Asciivania. Like Castlevania, but with ascii and spelling! (Also, THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL IS BEAR)
