This is neither flash nor a game, please don't hit me catastrophile!

:?

Oh, right.

Anyway, somebody posted this on reddit.com and it's full of nift:

Load up a page with a bunch of little images on it. Your photobucket index, or Google news, or the forums here.

Then replace the url with this:
Code: Select all
javascript:R=0; x1=.1; y1=.05; x2=.25; y2=.24; x3=1.6; y3=.24; x4=300; y4=200; x5=300; y5=200; DI=document.getElementsByTagName("img"); DIL=DI.length; function A(){for(i=0; i-DIL; i++){DIS=DI[ i ].style; DIS.position='absolute'; DIS.left=(Math.sin(R*x1+i*x2+x3)*x4+x5)+"px"; DIS.top=(Math.cos(R*y1+i*y2+y3)*y4+y5)+"px"}R++}setInterval('A()',5); void(0);

and hit enter.

I haven't tried it in IE, but Firefox will let you paste a javascript into the url line of a bookmark, so you can click it when you're on a page you want to try it on.

Then you have experienced nothing yet.

Actually, some of the variations are pretty sucky. Others are quite nice.

If you can believe, level 3 is hard. I'll do it though. Yes I will.

Okay, I did it.

It's actually kind of easy if you figure out how to get out of the initial onslaught. I'm on level 6 now.

I gave up on level 8. I can't find any avenue of escape!

Yeah, that. Once you break out, it's just a matter of going diagonally through the corners until they all get stuck in the middle. But for level 8 I couldn't find a way out of the initial approach. I found a way of getting a bit further from the centre, but it really didn't mean much because there was still at least two nasties covering pretty much anywhere I could go.

Oh man, this is not the thread to go in at 4am! Runs like the wind, even though I've already tried two games.

This one is kind of pleasant. I've got to around 85 yards so far.

Okay, at about 100yds it gets pretty tricky.

You'll need some sort of video capture setup. I've never had any luck with them, so I can't tell you what works well, but I'm sure there's somebody here who can.

Oooooh, that's a keeper.

Also, the page includes an ad for this stroke of brilliance:

I got 92.73. It gets a bit hard at the bit with all the tiny bright red circles. I would try again but I see large quantities of frustration in that direction.

I find the tiny red circles fine; it was the bit with the blue things that comes after that's trouble.

With regards to the wire-dangling fellow: 172.94yds! I leanred that after 140 or so, it starts giving you a random assortment of areas that you've already done.
