It's funny, but I'm not sure it's a big enough deal to kick up a fuss about. They probably just stopped doing it for cost reasons or something. It's not great of them, but do you really expect any different? I wonder if this is at all to do with the fact that it's Microsoft he's dealing with.

Yeah, I would have had a moment of indignation then just hung up and resumed my life.

lol this is sheer brilliance. it's going to cost an order of magnitude more than it would have for him to just buy a new rickin'-frackin' xbox, but if lots of people donate and contribute to some sort of metahumor stunt, so be it.

I find this really moronic, actually. Yeah, it's a big "fork you" that you have to spend your own money to ship it for repair, but I think He could have gotten at least a carrier's account number to send the durned thing back, or even a mailed label for fedex or somesuch, but He just fixated on the box and asked for stupid compensations.

He says He works at a similar place, and understands how they work, so I think he should know that it's not customary in the trade to have shipping boxes sent to customers for returns.

Meh.

Who thinks he'll actually spend the money on a box? I do. I think he'll spend it on a big metal box. With wheels. And an engine.

Aren't they phasing those out?

Oh wait, they're creating a second generation tentatively known as the Scion bB (big box?)! Coincidence? I think not!

I wanted one, because they have a good cargo room to gas mileage ratio... but it's not easy to get them NEW up here, let alone used.
