Wow.
A Clockwork Orange, I am reminded of.

Scared of people, I am becoming.

Yoda was scared of people.

Of course, most of the people he knew were either already dead or out to kill him, but it's still the truth.

Well, it is like a video game.

Just not like the vast overwhelming majority of the ones I've seen.

How many reward you for killing the innocent, for example, and how many video games are there where the point is to commit crimes rather than to defeat a villain? Almost none, I'd guess.

Except for the killing the innocent part, there's all the GTA games.

In the 2D games you got points for killing the innocent, and in the 3D ones they sometimes drop money or provide low-level weapons. The whole game is done with a tongue-in-cheek attitude, so it's not like it's actually advocating that sort of behaviour, but the prospect of stupid people completely misinterpreting it does worry me a little.

I thought the mention of video games in the article was pretty minor, actually.

You live in a country where it appears minor. Over here, politicians will go batshit crazy trying to capitalize on it. Sex and violence is looked at with a pretty open-minded view in the UK. Over here, "OH GOD! A VIDEOGAME WITH A REFERENCE TO CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOL?!"

You have to think, Mortal Kombat, the most unrealistic fighting game in the world, was frowned upon for years because of its extreme violence. All of the news articles made even my pretty open-minded parents a little iffy about allowing me to play it (I didn't even like it, anyway).

GTA is realistic, but still doesn't say "Hey, go kill random people". You're allowed to, but most missions consist of you doing drug runs. And when you do kill someone, it's something weird. Like causing a guy to fall out of an ambulance, and run over him while he's in a full body cast. If people are eager to live out videogames to the extent that they'll kill, they're out of their mind. Like they said in Penny Arcade, I've never heard of, or played a game where you smear feces on someone. In fact, I don't think I've seen a MOVIE like that. Americans are morons.

Oh I know people can pick it up and go crazy with it, but the article itself seemed pretty restrained.

Did he see the fear in Adams' eyes when he raised the bat to strike him?
