I saw this earlier today, and it's kinda cool. I can imagine better keyboards, though.

I saw it earlier too. It's pretty cool, but I always get a sort of guilty twinge about projects like that, ones that require the destruction/alteration of old machinery. I have the same mixed feelings about hot rods and custom cars. I guess it's the conservationist in me saying that these old school, 'don't build em like that anymore' machines are a nonrenewable resource of sorts.

It is very pretty! I learned typewritting at school, so I can type almost an entire sentence without having to look at the keyboard. I think I'd manage more if the keyboard had the difference in row height that typewriters have. .. oh, how I don't miss the practices.

I type by looking at the keyboard. I'm also a one-handed typist. I've tried to teach myself to type with both hands, but it's really less effecient for me, since I'm not used to it. On the plus side, I can type faster than some people just by using one hand.

Oh Christ, you're touching yourself with the other hand, aren't you?

I learned to type hunt 'n peck style... it's all I can really do anymore.

I did, for a high school class, learn touch typing. My top was 88 wpm, but I know I type a helluva lot faster with my index fingers alone.

Also, I can't see the keyboard due to a 503 error.

It's very Brazil, which is to say the film rather than the country.

Good link.

I used to type with index and middle fingers on both hands, then I decided to learn proper typing, so I sat down and gave it a go for about half an hour, and didn't seem to have any difficulty. As far as I can remember I've used all my fingers ever since. I don't type especially quickly, but quicker than I did with fewer fingers. I still have a few silly habits, like not always using the most logical shift key (I'm not very good with my little fingers in general, in fact, and I still get a bit confused as to which symbols are above which numbers, embarrassingly).

The link's broken now, but is that that keyboard someone converted, gave circular keys, gold sides etc? If so, I have something even better.

The link's still working for me.

And that blank keyboard looks cool, but way too expensive. I do want a clicky keyboard, though.

Thread's original link is now working. It was the one I thought it was. I really did wish to have one of those as well. I lust for it.

Is the enter key that one with the asterisk on it? Wherever it is it doesn't look big enough. I wonder if that would annoy me.

I think */_ is actually "/' and that the "shift freedom" key is the enter key.

Oh yes, of course. I think I did work that out, but it being caps lock on the other side of the keyboard confused me. Anyway, TOO SMALL. But the keyboard as a whole is pretty cool. I'd want one if it had a properly-sized enter key, but maybe that would ruin the look. Oh, and I think the space bar could probably do with some improvement. That said, I can barely see it. Maybe it's awesome.

Nice mod, but leaving exposed looking electronics on the bottom kinda bothers me.

Recently got one of these for my birthday. After all, those are the only keys I really NEED.

Now I really want to learn how to play piano/keyboard.

Also, I only just now worked out why DB is always up so late. It confuses me coz we're both in Australia, so I wonder why he's up at 12:30 am on a work night, but he's in WA, so he's two hours behind me. Duh.

Well I've done that for four years by necessity, so I dunno if I'll ever be able to go back to a "normal" sleep cycle.
It hurts so good.
