I read in one of my Uncle John's Bathroom Readers that a river otter jumped out, grabbed a lady's chihuahua, and dragged it back over to the river where it proceeded to start drownin the dog. The woman started punching the otter in the face, and said later that she felt bad the entire time because it was so cute. The otter let her dog go finally and it was okay.

Well, it depends. My recently acquired kitty is entirely uninterested in my pet mice. I can hold a mouse and pet Taffy at the same time. She just looks at it for a moment, then looks away. I even set one on her back once.

So if the cats and mice in the pictures are both pets and have been around each other--and the cats are well-fed--the mice might possibly have survived.

I'm not entirely certain, though.

So my cat caught a rat last week.

It lived. At least, it was alive when I released it in the garden. Perhaps it would have been kinder to kill it, but it seemed pretty mobile, so I'm not sure if it was in imminent danger. But I guess there's a good chance its wound would get infected. But since when was I meant to be nature police?

Also, I know that's not "the right font", but I honestly don't care.
