Wow.

This site both frightens and entices me.
I love this post so much I'm going to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant!

I'm still not sure if it's a joke or not. It seems there was a lot of work put into it. But the testimonials seem over-the-top absurd.

exactly. and considering they claim to be receiving so many submissions that the approval process can take up to 6-8 weeks, they have comparably few daughters to offer ..

Also, as I was browsing the page, it suddenly went down. Too much traffic? :?

yeah, I got a scheduled downtime message, then clicked refresh and it was fine. I'm glad I did, because I got this gem:

Sarah M.
Age: 16,
Location: Northwest

Bride Price:
$26,995

Sarah calls herself a Goth but we insisted she not dress in black for this photo. She reads and writes a lot of depressing poetry and it takes a lot to get her nose out of a book. She says she’s an Old Soul in a new young body and she’s already been married lots of times and she might die again tomorrow so why wait?

edit: I was actually convinced this site could very well be real, until I saw that they posted this testimonial:

“Our 15 year old daughter Mary wasn’t very popular and did nothing but mope around the house bringing everybody down, so we decided to marry her off through your site. Now our house is a lot cheerier and we love our new swimming pool and Jaccuzi! We’ve told our youngest that when she turns 15 we’re going to marry her off too!"

What, you've never seen letters addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. (Husband's Name)"? Just because you're not familiar with the way things work doesn't make them wrong.

I'm just going to assume that your response was tongue in cheek, because certainly you couldn't have overlooked the fact that the whole testimonial contravenes their stated purpose for the site.

God, this is really, really wrong...

"At first we were worried that Janine was too young to get married, but then her new husband bought her a house and a car and jewelry and the money we got let us buy a house for ourselves. Getting out of the trailer park at our age was the best thing that ever happened to us, and it’s all thanks to Marry Our Daughter!"

Haha, imagine if this website had been the strip someone drew for that spamline. That would be EXCELLENT.

Also...

http://hitsusa.com/blog/84/marryourdaughtercom/

I thought it would be clever to point out that it also spells "Marr Your Daughter," like any parent who put their kid on a site like that (if it were real) would effectively mar the kid for life.

But since it only has one "r" I guess the joke doesn't work. Well, I pointed it out anyway.

That was actually the first thing I thought it said once I saw there weren't two "y"s.

Maybe it's something to do with this guy.

Actually, Daniel uses "Johnny Marr" as his name on another forum. So maybe it's threatening to apply Daniel to daughters.
