Layer Tennis

this is an awesome idea and the "matches" are even better! it starts with two artists (or two teams of artists). one "serves" a file to the other, they have 15 minutes to alter it using any variety of design software and then "volley" it back and forth 10 times. running commentary by a writer of some sort. the commentary totally makes the match of course, but the level of craftsmanship in the design is just beyond amazing.

ok, i know nobody has really looked at these, but this week's match was AMAZING! featuring james hutchinson, who did a retelling of the star wars trilogy featuring legos and trevor van meter, the guy who brought us the fly guy. the whole thing was done in flash with only 15 minutes between volleys.

I didn't like it as much as the one before (dog vs. cat. That one cracked me up) but it's still very very impressive.
Like the announcer man said, though, nothing too atypical.

yeah, so far most of them have been pretty good, although there were two where you could tell one of the contestants was overmatched based on the lame returns they made.

not that i could do much better, or even have a chance of competing....

well, since i know that drac is the only one that cares about this, the rest of you can just ignore that there will be a new season of layer tennis starting this friday...

edit: oh yes, did i mention they are opening the contest to anyone who thinks they can do a good design? you could win your way into a real live match if your work stands up to scrutiny

Yeah, I'm already on the VIP list or whatever so I can vote/get updates.

You have to be dang good to do that if you want to try and be in a match, though.

15 minutes to design something that not only looks really good but whoops the other player's ass? You pretty much have to of been a professional in the field for some years before you're able to do it that fast.

I hadn't seen this before, very neat stuff. Amazing to realize it's all done in 15 minutes per volley... like Drac said you have to be pretty dang good to complete.

What are the outer sidelines for in tennis? What are the outer sidelines for in tennis? Any way when you serve or hit the ball behind first sidelines its already out,so what is the purpose of outer sidelines?
