Being the narcissistic monster that I am, I once tallied the various siggings on this board, and was most pleased to see that I WAS THE WINNER. I felt (and still feel) pride at my achievement, and shame for my vanity. From this we can conclude two things:
- I apparently have some degree of wit.
- All of the aforementioned wit is wasted on this stupid petty personality of mine.
SURPRISE BONUS CONCLUSION: I have the mistaken belief that I can somehow atone for my character flaws by speaking openly about them, without making any actual attempt to
correct them.
The correct response to this post is to lower your opinion of me.

Curses! I had the incorrect response AGAIN.

Goodbye small condo!
Hello modest house on a half acre!

Please don't prank-call my realtor.

Aw, that kind of looks like one of the houses I grew up in. Except much, much nicer. It looks great.
Independent study has been confirmed. I'm also going to do some extra work for him, some of which involves inputting information into the computer for a book he's working on and the other thing is more secretarial since his administrative assistant out of town for some reason. I expect I'll mostly be a mediator between him and his computer, since they don't get along well. Either way, I'm getting paid for it and it's good to get myself situated in the academic world.

That is really, really pretty from the outside. Not that that's a slur on the inside, which is also very nice, but I do think that looks great, plus anywhere with a decent sized garden gets a thumbs up from me. A lot of new houses around here barely even have a back garden.

I see you're one of those dirty hardwood floor lovers. Don't get me wrong, they look gorgeous but I couldn't stand a house without wall-to-wall carpeting because me feets get cooooold.

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
It's just the main-floor living room, eating space and kitchen. The rest of the house is carpeted (not the washrooms, mercifully, just the 3 bedrooms, two downstairs family rooms and the tiny future games room not pictured here)

She ran a daycare... there will be a few decorating changes at some point. Also the house is only 18 years old which I'm thrilled about. We only have that sort of property due to moving 15 minutes further away from the city. Worth it, I say.

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
I lovvve hardwood floors. Yes they are cold but they are oh so pretty. Hmm, I guess that explains my choice in women

I love this post so much I'm going to take it behind the middle school and get it pregnant!
Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
"Hardwood" isn't the phrase that springs to mind when I think of my ideal woman, but to each his own.

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
How did it go Quetz, HMM?
Pretty good. I've actually done the DJ thing a couple more times for the same place since then. I got a good share of compliments on the music - my formula is just picking stuff I like that is uptempo, mostly rock-ish, and not really abrasive or overplayed, but I guess my music taste tends to mesh with that of people a decade or so older than I am. It's pretty fun to do, and the most recent time was last weekend, so I had the chance to get away from the booth long enough to get 1.5 Christmas presents done with (the .5 is because one of the things I bought was something the person would like but was way too cheap to be a Christmas present in and of itself).

It's probably best not to compare your partner to something you walk all over.

But, what if these boots are made for walking?

Then that's just what they'll do.

Oh man, Chrism I want your house.
My house feels like it's getting smaller and smaller.

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
We actually went smaller on the house to get some property with it. It's got 2 reasonable bedrooms and one that is rather small, then just the livingroom, small eating area and kitchen upstairs, so smaller than my old family home, for instance. Having the basement be useable and finished is huge for us, and really makes the house size work. Hopefully our family doesn't outgrow it (for many reasons beyond the house size).

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
Nice house! And it's not tiny; it's bigger than my house. I prefer a small house with a large yard over a large house with a small yard any day.

Re: THE HAPPY THREAD
That's my view. That's why we went with this one for sure, cause any house with 4 bedrooms was either on a city lot (like 100x50) or costs like 75k more.

I worked on Christmas Eve and my boss informed me, upon learning that I had missed her previous message, that I got a raise, a pretty substantial one. It was a wonderful Christmas present.
