The International Obfuscated C Code Contest, as I understand it, is an opportunity for coders to throw consideration for other programmers out of the window and write deliberately incomprehensible code that nevertheless functions as intended. I believe recognition is awarded for particular achievements such as improbably short programs, self-documenting programs, inventive structure, and so on. I'm by no means an expert (I've only briefly read about it a few times), so that explanation may be any of a great number of degrees of wrong, but it's something which I wish I was more naturally attuned for, and which I would actually bother to put more work into.

It is a horrendously geeky thing, though.

My closest brush with anything of the sort was merely understanding this absurdly terse Perl fizzbuzz program (and I had to look up what the + was all about):

Programming is how I make my living and I've used all sorts of flavors of C and C-like languages over the years (C/C++/C#/java/etc) so I can appreciate how awesome this is. I hope they post the winning code soon so I can take a look.

Is this where we brag about shite we've done? If so, I got my bear story (that got failed by my tutor) published in a book (where said tutor is thanked by the editors for assisting, whereas I normally thank him for teaching me what not to use in my stories).
