Band Names

So, in the communal office I share with approximately thirteen other English grad students, we like to write fake band names on the chalkboard. We're in our fourth year running now. Here are the bands from 2012, with the occasional album title in brackets and song title in quotes:

In high school my friend and I had an imaginary band called Spot Minus the Innocent Goat. Our imaginary hit was titled I Am a Happy Paper Dinosaur.

Somewhere I have sheets and sheets of phrases I thought would make good titles for prospective Wrong Treatment tracks, but producing noise takes a lot more effort than producing names for it.

One of my favourites, and oldest (it actually predates TWT by a few years) is "You, Me, the Investors and Time". I'm not sure where it came from, and it's not at all funny, but I think it's got a nice rhythm and slightly enigmatic quality to it.

Is there a story behind that band name? Mainly I just want to know if it's referring to an innocent goat named Spot Minus or a guy named Spot without (or "minus") a particular innocent goat.

My friend and I were writing partners (still are, actually) and the name was in response to a stupid assignment our sophomore year writing teacher gave us. Everyone in the class wrote a bunch of random words on slips of paper, and we were all supposed to draw a pile of words and work them all into a poem. It was so preposterous and resulted in such horrible poetry that it kind of became a joke between us. We'd do it when we were feeling silly. One of our favorite things to do was write synopses for fake movies. Sometimes we'd do band names/song titles, and that's how Spot Minus the Innocent Goat was born. It was definitely meant to be a dude named Spot who had lost his goat. Spot ended up with a whole back story, and also starred in a few of our fake films.
