Even if it's not perfect right away, as long as you get on well you can at least satisfy your initial requirement, right? Anyway, I wish you the best!

Sounds great! Brave is okay. Although the [SPOILER]did make me sit back and be all like 'hmm';. And the heroine making a pig's ear of solving the Big Riddle bugged me a little. It's not a difficult riddle! It would not be much easier if you'd been given the solution in the form of a flow chart!

So that did not go as planned at all. She apparently got an earful from her folks about going out with someone that they didn't know, and ended up asking me to take her home because she was so ticked off at it all. If the restaurants I had wanted to go to weren't closed for July 4th, I might have been able to distract her enough from what was eating at her. So my night is going to end with me getting Taco Bell and going home.

EDIT: She hates Star Wars and Lord of the Rings so maybe it was better this way.

Doesn't mean you can't call her up a few more times and see if anything comes of it...

Always suggest public places to ease the inital meeting, or something.
How do you get to know someone by not getting to know them??? Gah, whatevs.
Call again and still good luck! (even with the Star Wars/Rings thing)

Side note: Catass had already come to visit (and stayed) with me for two weeks before I told my (out of state) parents I had "met" someone. Before I went out to visit him the following November, my mom asked, and paid for, me to do a background check on him. My sister and I laughed and laughed about the thought process of my mom..."His plan is DIABOLICAL! Come to visit for two weeks, sleep under the same roof, invite her to go to LA for Thanksgiving with the folks, all her friends and family knows she's coming....and THAT'S when I'll murder her."

Ahahahaa look at its nose! Tapirs are pretty good.

Tapirs? Sounds wrong. Eh, the zoo website uses it. Zoos can never be wrong, about anything. A ZOO FOR PRESIDENT any zoo is ok

By just met I mean within the last two weeks, possibly earlier this week.

That just means they're totes for definite about it.

Oh yeah, my sister got engaged about a month ago. They've been together for about eight years though.

Everyone I know is moving in with each other and getting engaged and stuff. It's weird, because about 3 years ago I'd just dismiss it as one of those stupid things kids do before they break up a few months later.

Around my parts, people seem not to be strongly interested in getting married. I'm sure it'll come up soon enough somewhere amongst my friends, but aside from the one divorced fellow there ain't no rumblings of it. Perhaps the first one will trigger an avalanche. Probably not, I only know a few people in long-term relationships.

My mom has Cushing's Syndrome in addition to her autoimmune disease. The good news is that it's curable, but if untreated it can lead to death. I don't expect that to happen, but the crappy thing is that my mom has been telling her doctors for months that she has many of the symptoms of the syndrome and they kept dismissing her.

Ideally, I won't have any more news to share in this thread for some time.

Well with all the gays banging on about it being so important, I suppose the kids are thinking it must be pretty awesome.

Excellent news that it has been identified and progress can be made.

Sheesh, I haven't logged in for a while, have I?

I think I'd try my hardest to avoid that as well.

So some good news. Tomorrow I get to serve my divorce and custody papers to the soon-to-be ex-Mrs.-Protestor.

Good luck, ZP. As for the dating, just kind of ease into it. It doesn't hurt to make a few new friends.
