Unfinished Works

Postby Blasphemy » Mon Aug 18, 2008 11:14 pm

I wasn't sure what to do with this, so I thought I'd make a new thread here for things that people start, but don't finish, for whatever reason.

This is a incomplete, crudely-drawn version of an idea I got a way back when I saw a certain subject line. Originally, I had planned to do it in full color, but as I got more and more ideas, the project quickly got out of hand, and I decided to scrap the entire idea, since I'd never be able to do it justice.

Last week, I decided to scribble through it, just to give people an idea of what I was going to do, but even at a vastly reduced level of quality, drawing the multi-panel cartoon proved to be tedious and time-consuming.

So I gave up on it. But I had already drawn a fair amount of stuff, and I'd hate to see it all go to waste, so, without furthur ado:

I think unfinished projects are the only ones I can do. Last year, I posted some sculptures I had mocked up, but I haven't done anything with them since then. Another project on continuing hiatus is a wall hanging made out of plastic hubcaps. Here's my initial concept sketch

Image

Then I took pictures of the hubcaps I had collected and did this PowerPoint/MS Paint mock up

Image

Then I actually began construction. Part of the reason I haven't finished this, besides school stuff, is the fact that I no longer have this workbench. The top, which I scavenged, turned out to have termites in it.

Image

I did get this far before shelving the project

Man, that woulda been epic, Blas. I see what you mean, though, even uncompleted it's fairly epic.

I've got several started-and-not-finished spamusements that I either decided wouldn't be funny or too much work at home. Maybe I'll dig some of them out tonight.

I was looking through my older stuff yesterday and found this, which I had completely forgotten about. It's an alternate idea for:

I wanted the experience.

Funny how a game like Dragon Warrior has you fighting mostly everything but dragons.

I never finished this drawing; I don't think I'd be able to trace over it and have it look as good as it does as a sketch. It counts as unfinished, though. Also, this person doesn't actually exist.

And the everything else.

I'm being a bastard. Though, I don't really see the resemblance.

Some people get something that looks like two eyes and a nose burnt into their tortilla and see "Heyzeus" so who knows.

Gosh, you guys are right! I mean, if you look at Portals' "Show Yourself" picture, she has dark, straight hair parted in the middle, a moderate nose, oval-shaped face with almond-shaped eyes.

Whereas, in her drawing, the girl has dark, straight hair parted in the middle, a moderate nose, oval-shaped face with almond-shaped eyes. The two are NOTHING AT ALL ALIKE. NOT EVEN TO THE SLIGHT EXTENT I FOOLISHLY REFERRED TO EARLIER.

Don't ever give me a line drawing and declare it "unfinished" because I just can't help myself

I think we should invert the colours and flip them and then have them side by side.

And honestly, pretty much every female I know has that description, which is probably why, when I tried to draw a generic female, it turned out like that.

THAT IS FUNNY DRACUMANURMENA.

I like the idea of an enormous horrible monster that just wants to explain things to us.

That is indeed some interesting unfinished stuff.

While I'm here, here's a little still life thingy I started and didn't quite finish.
