Hahaha nice. Took me a second; at first I thought they were chubby shallow bowls with wings. Teahc me not to pay attention to details ;)

I made a new friend a few months ago, and this evening (while quite drunk) I decided to draw pictures of her.

I am hotlinking from Facebook. Were I less inebriated, I would actually upload them somewhere logical. But, judging from my person experience with the Facebook staff coding ability, it'll hotlink JUST FINE.

Drunk Arting is the best! 8)

They're all fun drawings, for sure. But is that a fake beard in drawing #3? Wazzup wizzat? :?

It's Steve Bass. He is the most ridiculous person ever. So ridiculous, upon being described, most people thing I made him up. he once confused nachos and smores. His naivety is amusing.

Almost did that myself out of sheer habit. Did I mention I have an exam on Analytical Mechanics tomorrow? Things like that are going to infiltrate my nightmares.

Besides, I don't think the Lagrangian equations would help, seeing as Iforgot the lengths of the bars and stuff.

I'm sure I'd have just named them ℓ₁, ℓ₂, ℓ₃ and the like. I was also wondering if those joints allowed the bars to slide as well as rotate. That would have made me even angrier. And the pendulum needs two angles, unless some mechanism I'm not seeing constrains it to some plane. But I WILL NOT DO IT

I'll just do this then.

Saltine wrote:So you're trying to come up with a non-divinely-inspired way of getting that?

Well, I would probably do something like
u=cotθ=cosθ/sinθ,
du= (-1-cot²θ)dθ = -(1+u²)dθ

∫cot²θdθ becomes
-∫u²/(1+u²) du
-∫(1+u²-1)/(1+u²) du
∫1/(1+u²) du-∫(1+u²)/(1+u²) du
tan⁻¹u -∫ du
tan⁻¹u - u
tan⁻¹cotθ - cotθ
tan⁻¹(tan(π/2 -θ)) - cotθ
π/2 -θ - cotθ

Which is what we were looking for, apart from a constant of π/2 which doesn't matter because it gets absorbed into the constant of integration the end

I'm sure nobody will notice.
