Accomplishments in adulthood

Postby fanelian » Thu Dec 29, 2011 2:07 pm

Everytime I get something done, I feel great. Be it finishing a videogame, or getting water, taking out the garbage or anything the like, being able to cross something out of my "to do" list gives me a small sense of accomplishment.

After a more than a year, I finally took the time to go to the Phone and electricity companies to let them know the bills shouldn't go to my dad's name anymore, because even though "he" has never stopped paying them, he stopped being alive.. a year and a half ago. So, when I finally did it, I felt good, and had that "pats self in the back" moment, and quickly forgot about it.

And then, one magical December morning...

Haha SHINY HAPPY EYES

Only FanFan would be happy about bills with her name on them ;)

You should do more of these, melikey!

Aw, cute and well-drawn. I was considerably less excited when I got my first bill.

It's not the first bill to ever have my name (I've got a couple of credit cards and the cable TV contract is already under my name), but it is the first that will be accepted as "proof of residence" whenever I have to make any kind of paperwork, like in the bank or a government institution.

I love the picture story too!

I'm so bad about that...Mom never changed the bills to her name from Dad after he died 26 years ago, and then when she died more than 5 years ago, I still didn't change them (I think for some of the utility bills, they charge a fee for it). We were concerned it was going to be a problem when we were working on legal residency for Hubby, but it turned out to not be a problem. And lately, with money getting tighter, I'm thinking it's just as well they're still in Dad's name; if I'm a little late, it won't mess up my credit, and Dad doesn't care about his anymore.

I was pretty excited for mine. That said, I was getting bills on purpose as I was paying for things by mastercard to build credit. :)

Also, good for the company doing its job and processing the change. I've heard of ones taking an inordinately long time to figure out that they should maybe do that someday.
