SemiNomad: Selected Early Works

Postby SemiNomad » Wed Jan 09, 2008 4:17 am

While I've been at my parents' for the holidays, I had to move a bunch of my old stuff into another room, and in the process I found a notebook I used to draw in back in junior high and high school. Ah, those bygone glory days when school was easy and I put more than 5 minutes effort into a drawing. Anyway, I decided to scan a few and share them with you all:

A few examples of my early "Robots Killing Each Other" series

Some of those robots remind me of David Bowie's avatar. Also, that mace is like way overkill.

Ninjapiraterzombierobots! There is no hope! There is no escape!

I love this drawing to death. Absolutely fantastic.

I should dig up some of my early works.

I agree with StevenF. That's the highlight of the 'robots killing robots' package.

This is soooooo a teenage school-boy's notebook. :)

I challenge any girl here to dig up any drawings they did in class - I expect a serious lack of any robots or ninjas or anything else violence related.

I drew swords and daggars and morning stars and an awful lot of eyeballs.
No robots though, I'll admit that.

I also enjoyed this trip back in SemiNomad's lifetime.

Nope. No robots and or violence. Thisis from my most prolific school doodling, from when I was at Uni.

Nothing as awesome as killer robots :(

Thanks, though I think that's the one I put the least amount of effort into.

hahaha oh man I have books like this lying around. Robot fights are great.
For my money, the best one is the one before the headkick.

Sadly, they're all probably in Melbourne. So unless Jemry wants to do some afroninja work, you'll have to wait a while.

Man, if I had the books we filled up in history and a scanner, I'd be scanning my heart out right now. I'd release Matt Gets Jabberwock'd as a teaser, then when you were all clamouring for more I'd hit you with Ed is in the Sky With Diamonds and that one the name of which I forget, with Ed lounging 'neath the anvil tree and the anvil falling upon his face and him getting reconstructive surgery from doctor Leo who is a guy with a giant head and a mouth full of huge jagged fangs and he performs the operation by chewing on Ed's head and Ed is handsome and gets all the chicks and then I forget exactly how but his face reverts to normal and he has to go rooting through the bin for his old mask which he threw away when he became handsome and we all gather round and laugh at him and he is furious. I loved that one.

These drawings are very, very cool. What's the vintage?

These are anywhere between 10 and 13 years old, or something like that.
