So I may or may not get into this whole "blogging" craze that all the young folks are talking about these days, so I've been dabbling with it a bit for the past month. I only have three posts so far. They're not great, but maybe some constructive criticism will help me hone my comedic writing abilities. One can never have two many venues through which to express oneself.

Hey I'm just bursting in on this thread even though I've only read two of the three posts thus far but they're terribly good. I almost lol'd at certain points even though it's late and I'm sitting on my own, and that's a reaction I usually reserve for videos of certain cats.

I was uncertain if anyone would respond to this thread, doubting your relative level of interest in my opinions, but I know from past experience that you all can't resist correcting my grammar. You can claim that you would have responded had I not cleverly included it, but now we'll never know.

I wouldn't bother, I don't read it much myself. Also, hopefully you're aware that I've altered a quote by William Hazlitt ("The characteristic of Chaucer is intensity: of Spencer, remoteness: of Milton elevation and of Shakespeare everything"); I could never craft a sentence so finely.

I want my next blog post to be titled "Eden of Iniquity", but only because I've come up with the pun on my own and I'm rather pleased with it.

Sounds politically-charged. You're going to have to be a political blogger if you want to go throwing titles like that around.

Looking at it, it comes off as more gay-bashing than I intended. Some of the earlier posts I use in my stand-up.

Opening paragraph: I do not care for this kind of airily-written commentary! It all seems rather a distant observation of the characters, which doesn't do much to get me interested. I would vote that the viewpoint ought to be closer to the characters. It could easily be rewritten from Reid's perspective, and would probably be more engaging for it.

Rest of story: Actually pretty good. I read it to the end, which I wouldn't have bothered to do if I didn't care what happened at the end.

Oh yeah, and brackets in speech don't really read that well. I'm being a dick, that's all.

I've gotten other comments about the opening paragraph, too. I was trying to convey Reid's disinterest in the old woman, but, obviously, it doesn't come off that way to readers. That's means I'll probably fix it at some point when I can be bothered.
